Done for the year?

The snow is already just a memory. All that's left around here are piles of dirty ice.

Kenn Moor, Clevedon. Winter Sunset

I was in a bit of a rush tonight so I didn't intend stopping, pulling my gloves off and getting the iPhone out of its waterproof case.
When I saw the sky colouring I couldn't really miss it.
Not the most amazing bit of scenery but I didn't want to risk cycling off to find a better spot and missing the light.

Looking Across Weston Bay

Looking across the bay but towards Uphill and Brean not Wales.

Strawberry Line - Sunset

You have got to love the work of Sustrans, and The Strawberry Line in particular on nights like this.

Late November Sunrise

A clear sky this morning so no drama. Another shot from yesterday.

Sunrise over the Mendip

The sun may well have been rising but it wasn't going very far. Probably the coldest morning of this winter, it looks like it could be another cold one.

Weston Seafront - From Holly

Not one of mine I'm afraid. Holly took this one yesterday.

Waiting to head south on the GWR line towards Taunton.

Weston-super-Mare Train Station

A great old station built to serve the hordes of holiday makers that used to flock here to the seaside.

Sand Point: Heading out to Wales

You couldn't walk there of course, but if you could you would walk ashore in Wales at Barry.

Swans on the Yeo

Stopped to celebrate cycling my 4000th mile of cycling to work in 2010 and saw this family out for a pootle.

Weston Train Station

A trivial piece of equipment on the platform at Weston-super-Mare rail station. I love rust so long as it isn't on my bike.

Tiles and Railings from W-s-M Rail Station

Great period details from the main train station in Weston-super-Mare.

Uphill Lime Kiln

This kiln is at the end of the boatyard, just before the gate leading further down the coast. Uphill sits on a limestone hill, line processed here would have been important to sweeten the Somerset soil.
Uphill have a pretty informative website, it's a lovely little village.

The Savoy

The Savoy Hotel on the seafront in Weston-super-Mare. Quite close to the Marine Lake the hotel looked great in the evening sun as I rode past it yesterday.

The Evil Clone Army

All lined up ready to play their part in taking over the world, or the High Street at the very least!

Yatton Train Station

The waiting room at Yatton Station. Closed for as long as I have been using the station (if I feel like wimping out of my 20 mile commute I can jump on the train at Yatton and save 10 miles).
The waiting room is earmarked to be the cafe serving the Strawberry Line, they have just announced that they have secured funding. Great news, can't wait to see, and use, the new facilities.

Birnbeck Pier June 21st

Detoured from my normal route home so i could ride the coast road. i love the smell of the sea blowing up from the rocks.
As i stopped to take this photo an old man asked if this was the pier that burned down, you'd think it was from looking at it. i really hope someone gets a grip and saves it from falling into the sea.
